The group, led by Legislative Council (LegCo) member and President of the Brunei Youth Council Yang Berhormat Khairunnisa binti Haji Ash’ari, was welcomed by Turkish Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Dr Hamit Ersoy.
The youth were given insights into the life and work of a diplomat.
The visit provided the group with an opportunity to learn about the ambassador’s experience including his five tips for a career in diplomacy and international relations.
Discussions included scholarship opportunities for Bruneian students funded by the Turkish Government such as Türkiye scholarships and Erasmus Plus scholarship which is a collaboration with the European Union (EU) Community.
Discussions also included the strengthening of the Brunei-Turkey relations such as emphasising on diversifying the Sultanate’s economy and improving the economic prospect of both countries.
The ambassador also urged the youth to lead and take action as future leaders.
The Diplomat for a Day programme includes visits to various foreign missions in the Sultanate with an aim of providing the youth with a platform to understand the roles and responsibility of a diplomat.
