The Dewan Majlis (Parliament House) Building was completed in May,
1968, and it is a three-storey building consisting of:
a. Basement - Housing Banquet Hall which is controlled by the
Department of Adat Istiadat Negara.
b. First Floor - The Council of Ministers' Chamber, the
Legislative Council Chamber, the Committee Room, the Speaker's Rest Room
and the Canteens; and
c. Second Floor - Offices for the Officers and Staff, the
Speaker's Office, Sound Recording and Equipment Control Room, and
Library (Reading Room).

The Dewan Majlis Building is linked to the Lapau (the Department of
State Custom and Tradition) by covered promenades enclosing a central
garden courtyard in which a fountain pool and a minaret is placed. The
grouping of the minaret and buildings with their traditional decorative
motifs is designed to symbolize the constitutional position of Brunei
Darussalam as a Monarchy with Islam as the official religion.
