05.03.25 LegCo raises sports infrastructure, tourism

The need to build sport infrastructure and organise annual sport tourism events were raised during the 21st Legislative Council (LegCo) session yesterday.

LegCo member Yang Berhormat Mohammad bin Abdullah @ Lim Swee Ann posed a question to Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad if the ministry has plans to build international-class sports infrastructure in each district as preparation for the country to organise sports at the regional or international level.

Meanwhile, LegCo member Yang Berhormat Chong Chin Yee sought a response from Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi if the ministry intends to organise an annual sports tourism event, such as a marathon or a cycling race at the Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Bridge to capitalise on its status as the longest bridge in Southeast Asia and to promote Brunei Darussalam as a major international sports tourism destination, particularly during the December Festival.
