Legislative Council (LegCo) member Yang Berhormat Haji Mohamad Danial @ Tekpin bin Ya’akub called for stronger coordination, effective implementation, and measurable outcomes in advancing Brunei Vision 2035, saying the national vision must be translated into tangible benefits for the people and the country.
Speaking in support of the motion on Coordination Towards Achieving Brunei Vision 2035, the appointed LegCo member said Brunei Vision 2035 is not merely a long-term planning document, but a national aspiration and shared responsibility that requires coordinated action across all sectors.
He said the titah of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consistently provided the direction for the government and the people to strengthen national development, enhance human capital, improve public service delivery, advance the economy, and safeguard the well-being of society.
Yang Berhormat Haji Mohamad Danial @ Tekpin described education and human capital development as fundamental to achieving Brunei Vision 2035, calling for education and training systems to remain responsive to technological advances and future economic demands.
He added that programme success should be measured by improvements in employability and productivity rather than participation numbers alone.
Highlighting the importance of accelerating digital transformation through artificial intelligence, data analytics, and digital systems, he noted that technology must solve real problems and deliver clear benefits.
He called for stronger inter-agency data sharing while safeguarding cybersecurity, personal data protection, and ethical technology use in line with the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) philosophy.
To address cross-cutting issues, he stressed that stronger coordination through a whole-of-government approach is essential. He proposed establishing a Brunei Vision 2035 Progress Dashboard as a data-driven monitoring platform to track achievements in education, employment, productivity, economic diversification, digital transformation, public service delivery, and environmental sustainability.
He also urged greater support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through capacity building and market access, while emphasising the importance of empowering mukim and village consultative councils as strategic partners to stimulate local economic potential.
