10.06.26 Courtesy calls deepen international cooperation

Speaker of the Legislative Council Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib received separate courtesy calls from High Commissioner of India to Brunei Darussalam Ramu Abbagani, Ambassador of Germany to Brunei Darussalam Weert Borner and Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Brunei Darussalam Tran Anh Vu.

The meetings were held yesterday morning at the Legislative Council Building. During the courtesy call with the High Commissioner of India to Brunei Darussalam, discussions focused on efforts to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in support of Brunei Vision 2035 through increased business activities, investment, and technological integration, particularly in the oil and gas sector.

Both sides also discussed enhancing relations between the legislative bodies of the two countries and underscored the importance of the long-standing and close ties between Brunei Darussalam and India.

Meanwhile, during the meeting with the Ambassador of Germany to Brunei Darussalam, discussions centred on strengthening bilateral cooperation in various strategic sectors, including technology and education.

Both parties exchanged views on matters of regional and global significance and reaffirmed their commitment to further enhancing cooperation between the Legislative Council of Brunei Darussalam and the German Bundestag.

During the courtesy call with the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Brunei Darussalam, both sides expressed appreciation for the achievements since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992. Discussions focused on the close cooperation between the Legislative Council and the National Assembly of Vietnam.

Clerk to the Privy Council, Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers’ Council and Clerk to the Legislative Council Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Huraini binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hurairah was also present during the courtesy calls.
