A new BND6.8 million ecotourism and nature-based resort is scheduled to begin operations in August 2027, potentially creating around 80 direct jobs.
Borneo Eco-Resort Sdn Bhd is developing the project with an international hotel operator, said Coordinating Minister of Economic Policies and Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin in his ministerial statement during the ongoing Second Meeting of the 22nd Legislative Council (LegCo) session yesterday. The resort aims to have locals comprise 90 per cent of its workforce within 20 years. The minister cited the development as an example of the quality investment needed to expand Brunei’s tourism capacity and diversify the products available to visitors.
Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Abdul Manaf also announced that a nationwide MESRA Campaign would be launched to foster a culture of hospitality, professionalism and service excellence.
“Every frontliner is the face of Brunei Darussalam,” he said, adding that warm greetings, accurate information, prompt assistance, cleanliness, courtesy and effective problem-solving could determine whether visitors felt welcome.
