Speaker of the Legislative Council Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib attended the joint annual session between the House of Representatives of Indonesia (DPR RI) and the Regional Representative Council of Indonesia (DPD RI) at the Nusantara Building, Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta, Indonesia yesterday.

The session, held in conjunction with the 80th anniversary of the Independence of Indonesia and the opening of the first session of the 2025-2026 legislative year, saw a state address by President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, commemorating the nation’s 80th Independence Day. The session was also attended by parliamentary speakers from several nations, including Malaysia, Singapore, and Timor-Leste.

The Speaker of the Legislative Council’s attendance was at the invitation of the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Indonesia Dr (H C) Puan Maharani.

Clerk to the Privy Council, Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers’ Council and Clerk to the Legislative Council Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Huraini binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hurairah, and the Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to Indonesia Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Razak bin Haji Abdul Kadir were present.
