The Legislative Council held a Doa Kesyukuran Ceremony at the Surau of the Legislative Council (LegCo) Building in Jalan Dewan Majlis last Thursday.

It was held in conjunction with the 80th Birthday Celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

Present as the Guest of Honour was the Speaker of the LegCo Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib.

Also in attendance were appointed members of the LegCo; Clerk to the Privy Council, Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers’ Council and Clerk to the Legislative Council Datin Paduka Dr Dayang Hajah Huraini binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hurairah; as well as officers and staff of the Department of Councils of State.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Yaasin and a special prayer in conjunction with His Majesty’s 80th birthday celebration, led by Level I Imam Awang Mohammad Farhan @ Awang Mohammad Ali bin Ali and followed by the mass Asar prayer.

The ceremony was held as an expression of gratitude to Allah the Almighty for His Majesty’s leadership of Brunei Darussalam.

During the gathering, those present offered prayers seeking Allah the Almighty’s continued blessings upon His Majesty, praying for His Majesty’s enduring good health, a blessed long life and that His Majesty would continue to reign over the nation for many more years.
