Speaker of the Legislative Council Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib undertook a series of official programmes in Jakarta, Indonesia at the Joint Annual Session between the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) and the Regional Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI).

In Jakarta, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman made courtesy calls on Parliamentary Speakers at Gedung Nusantara, Parliament Complex, Jakarta.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman and Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia and Speaker of the Legislative Council Dr (HC) Puan Maharani reaffirmed the longstanding close relations between Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia.

He also expressed hopes that bilateral ties would continue to be strengthened through cooperation in various fields and conveyed appreciation for the invitation to attend the Joint Annual Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI, as well as extended congratulations on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the independence of Indonesia.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman also held a courtesy call with Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore Seah Kian Peng last Friday. Both parties reaffirmed their longstanding special relations and expressed hopes that bilateral ties, between the two legislative councils, would continue to be enhanced through cooperation and sharing of experiences in areas of mutual interest.

Clerk to the Privy Council, Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers’ Council and Clerk to the Legislative Council Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Huraini binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hurairah and Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to Indonesia Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Razak bin Haji Abdul Kadir were also present.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman also visited the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Secretariat, where he was received by Siti Rozaimeriyanty binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Abdul Rahman.

During the meeting, he was briefed on the latest developments of AIPA as well as preparations for the 46th AIPA General Assembly to be held in September.

Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Huraini was also in attendance during the visit to the AIPA Secretariat.
