Speaker of the Legislative Council Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib attended the 80th Independence Day celebration of Indonesia at Istana Merdeka, Jakarta.

The Speaker of the Legislative Council’s attendance was at the invitation of Speaker of the House of Representatives of Republic of Indonesia Dr (H C) Puan Maharani.

It served as a programme within the Speaker of the Legislative Council’s visit framework to the republic in conjunction with attending the Joint Annual Session between the House of Representatives of Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) and the Regional Representatives of Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI).

Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to Indonesia Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Razak bin Haji Abdul Kadir was also present.
