Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid shared updates on several issues under the ministry’s purview, specifically focusing on infrastructure and maintenance management including the ongoing management of maintenance works, repairs, and the upgrading of government physical assets to ensure long-term durability and safety.
He highlighted this during a muzakarah session with Legislative Council (LegCo) members at the Atria Simpur Hall, Public Works Department (JKR) headquarters yesterday.
Upon arrival, the minister welcomed the LegCo delegation led by Yang Berhormat Zainol bin Haji Mohamed, who in reply speech acknowledged the importance of the muzakarah session as a vital link between the government and the community’s representatives.
Following the opening remarks, Permanent Secretary (Planning, Land Use and Environment) at the MoD Dr Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak provided an comprehensive briefing to the delegation.
A significant portion of the session was dedicated to addressing flood incidents in Kuala Belait with a presentation by Assistant Director of the Public Works Department (Belait and Tutong District Branch) Fazidah binti Haji Mohd Daud.
The session serves as a platform for sharing the latest information and providing clarity on services, policies, and initiatives undertaken by the MoD. The efforts are aimed at providing quality infrastructure as envisioned by the Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, working toward the goals of Brunei Vision 2035 and a high quality of life for all citizens.
Deputy Permanent Secretary (Construction Industry and Development) at the MoD Sr Hajah Norhayati binti Haji Mohd Yaakub; Deputy Permanent Secretary (Infrastructure, Housing and Professional) at the MoD Haji Shaharuddin Khairul bin Haji Anuar; Acting Director General of Public Works Norazmi bin Othman; and senior officials from the ministry were also in attendance.
