​Legislative Council (LegCo) members Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman and Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Isa bin Pengiran Haji Aliuddin attended the 14th ASEAN-AIPA Leaders’ Interface Meeting, held in conjunction with the 46th ASEAN Summit at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The annual meeting serves as the highest platform between the Heads of Government of ASEAN member states and the Leaders of Parliaments of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) member states to enhance understanding, strengthen cooperation and support the aspirations of a united, inclusive and sustainable ASEAN Community.

Earlier, a preparatory meeting was held among the heads of delegations of AIPA member states to discuss the AIPA Message, unanimously agreed upon as a joint voice of the Parliaments of AIPA Member States.

During the 14th ASEAN-AIPA Leaders’ Interface Meeting, Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat Malaysia and President of AIPA Yang Berhormat Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr) Johari bin Abdul delivered the AIPA message to ASEAN leaders.

The message expressed full support for the theme of the 46th ASEAN Summit and reaffirmed AIPA’s commitment to advancing inclusive growth, sustainable development, and strengthening regional integration towards the ASEAN Community Vision 2045.

A signing ceremony for the ‘Kuala Lumpur Declaration on ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future’ was also held following the meeting, attended by the Heads of Delegation for the 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings, including the heads of AIPA delegations.
