Speaker of the Legislative Council (LegCo) Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, on Tuesday received courtesy visits from Ambassador Sun Nahmkook of the Republic of Korea and Ambassador Heuankeo Sangsomsak of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. The meetings were held seperately at the Legislative Council Building this morning.
During his visit, Ambassador Sun congratulated the Legislative Council on its membership in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). Both sides discussed bilateral relations between Brunei and South Korea, including parliametnary cooperation, trade, culture, education, and tourism, as well as regional and global issues, highlighting the importance of diplomacy.
Meanwhile, discussions with Ambassador Heuankeo focused on the long-standing ties between Brunei and Laos, particularly in trade and economic cooperation. Both parties exchanged views on parliamentary collaboration and expanding partnerships in education and training, with the Lao ambassador expressing his commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.
