25.03.26 INRS to streamline labour data: Minister

The National Labour Management System data will be integrated with the implementation of the Immigration National Registration System (INRS).

Minister of Home Affairs Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman highlighted the initative during the eighth day of the First Meeting of the 22nd Session of the Legislative Council (LegCo).

The minister said when a Foreign Workers License (LPA) is issued by the Labour Department, the data will be directly connected to the Immigration and National Registration Department, enabling the prompt issuance of work visas and passes.

The minister was responding to a question raised by LegCo member Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohd Yusof.

Another key development shared by the minister was the implementation of the E-Gate system.

The system represents one of the latest technologies adopted by the Immigration and National Registration Department, utilising artificial intelligence facial recognition and data from the national registration system, including biometric information from passports and identification cards.

The minister noted that the project is not yet 100 per cent completed. He stated that once the project is fully operational, the features associated with the People Hub will be integrated.

It will serve as a primary mechanism for controlling and sharing essential data between government agencies to improve national administrative effectively.
