Under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the nation remains steadfast in fostering peace, promoting social harmony, and advancing sustainable development, said Legislative Council (LegCo) member Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, delivering Brunei Darussalam’s official statement.
He said this as the head of delegation for the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Istanbul, Turkiye from April 15 to 19.

He also expressed concern over the worsening humanitarian situation in the Middle East, particularly in Palestine, voicing concern about the alarming loss of lives and destruction of essential infrastructure affecting civilians’ daily lives.
In this regard, he called for an immediate cessation of violence, full protection of civilians, and the unimpended delivery of humanitarian assistance.
The head of delegation also emphasised that a just and lasting resolution must be grounded in international law, with full respect for human rights and the security of all people, especially in the Gaza Strip.
He also reaffirmed that Brunei Darussalam will continue to support multilateralism and collective international efforts to ensure peace, justice, and global stability for future generations.
The delegation also included LegCo members Yang Berhormat Chong Chin Yee and Yang Berhormat Haji Salleh Bostaman bin Haji Zainal Abidin.
