The Speaker of the Legislative Council (LegCo) Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib on Wednesday received a courtesy visit from the High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam Yip Wei Kiat, in a meeting that underscored the longstanding and close bilateral relations between both countries.

During the meeting at the Legislative Council Building on Jalan Dewan Majlis, both sides reaffirmed the strong ties between Brunei Darussalam and Singapore, which continue to be strengthened through cooperation in various fields including trade, social development, people-to-people exchanges, and official visits.

The discussions also highlighted the upcoming 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, reflecting the deep and enduring partnership shared by both nations.

Both parties further exchanged views on the importance of inter-parliamentary relations in fostering mutual understanding of contemporary challenges and sharing perspectives on issues of common interest.

Also present at the courtesy visit was Clerk to the Privy Council, Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers’ Council and Clerk to the LegCo Datin Paduka Dr Dayang Hajah Huraini binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hurairah.
