Appointed members of the Legislative Council Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohd Yusof and Yang Berhormat Hajah Rosmawatty binti Haji Abdul Mumin virtually participated in the 17th AIPA Caucus Meeting yesterday.

The Brunei delegation presented the country’s report on the implementation of resolutions adopted at the 46th AIPA General Assembly, highlighting relevant national legislation and initiatives undertaken to support these commitments.

The delegation also delivered an intervention expressing Brunei’s support for AIPA’s efforts to realise the ASEAN Community Vision 2045. Brunei also reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening ASEAN’s collective response to climate change, including through its role as host of the ASEAN Centre for Climate Change.

The meeting concluded with the heads of delegation signing the report of the 17th AIPA Caucus Meeting, followed by an acceptance speech from Laos, which will host the 18th AIPA Caucus Meeting in 2027.

Among the key agenda of the meeting were the progress of implementing resolutions adopted during the 46th AIPA General Assembly in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, AIPA’s role in promoting inclusive peace governance through the discussion titled ‘AIPA Key Role in Promoting Inclusive Peace Governance’, and the regional bloc’s contributions to addressing climate change under the theme ‘ASEAN and Climate Change: AIPA Contributions to Protect the Future of the People’.

Delegates also deliberated on and considered the report of the 17th AIPA Caucus Meeting.

Themed ‘The Role of Parliament in Strengthening ASEAN Centrality in Navigating Complex Global Challenges’, the meeting was organised by the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia.
