Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Amran bin Haji Maidin expressed his full support for the motion on strengthening coordination in government administration, describing it as a strategic approach to ensure the aspirations of Brunei Vision 2035 are realised more effectively.

Speaking during the debate, Yang Berhormat Amran said his support was in line with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s titah delivered during the Cabinet reshuffle and the appointment of new Cabinet Ministers and Deputy Ministers on June 4, 2026.

He noted that His Majesty had emphasised the country was now entering a critical phase in implementing Brunei Vision 2035 blue- prints, with the success of the national agenda depending on unity, shared responsibility and effective leadership among Cabinet members.

Yang Berhormat Amran said the appointments of the Coordinating Ministers represented more than an administrative restructuring, describing them as strategic reforms to strengthen policy coordination and ensure ministries work collectively towards common national goals.

He said Brunei Vision 2035 is not merely a policy document but a national commitment to developing an educated, highly skilled and successful population, a high quality of life and a dynamic, sustainable economy.

To achieve these ambitions, he stressed that Brunei Darussalam requires a more integrated, efficient and responsive system of governance.

Highlighting the increasingly interconnected nature of national development, Yang Berhormat Amran said issues such as employment creation involve education, workforce development, investment, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), technology and the private sector, while food security requires coordination
across agriculture, trade, logistics, environmental management and research.

He said the appointment of the Coordinating Ministers would help ensure ministries work towards shared national objectives while avoiding duplication of responsibilities and delays in policy implementation.

He added that the new coordination structure would improve the delivery of strategic national projects, particularly in areas such as digital transformation, economic diversification, productivity enhancement, food security, green energy and human capital development.

With Coordinating Ministers over seeing implementation, he said obstacles affecting project progress could be identified and resolved more quickly, leading to faster delivery while strengthening public and investor confidence in the government’s ability to execute national development programmes.

He noted that stronger coordination would support efforts to improve public sector governance by reducing bureaucracy, expediting approval processes and enhancing the quality of government service delivery.

Yang Berhormat Amran also stressed that improved coordination would enable government resources to be utilised more efficiently by preventing duplication of programmes, reducing waste and ensuring every project delivers maximum value, particularly as the country pursues economic diversification and reduces its dependence on oil and gas revenues.

Yang Berhormat Amran said the appointment of the Coordinating Ministers was a timely and appropriate initiative that would strengthen coordination, accelerate policy implementation, improve administrative efficiency and optimise the use of national resources.

He called on all parties to ensure that every policy, project and decision remains focused on the interests of the nation and the well-being of its people, in support of a more competitive, prosperous and resilient Brunei Darussalam by 2035.
