Legislative Council (LegCo) members
attended the 14th AIPA Caucus Meeting held in Phu Quoc Islands, Vietnam
hosted by the National Assembly of Vietnam.
The ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary meeting was
attended by nine AIPA member countries including the Sultanate, led by
LegCo members Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri
Setia Haji Awang Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia
Haji Mohd Yusof along with Yang Berhormat Hajah Rosmawatty binti Haji
Abdul Momin, Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Isa bin Pengiran Haji Aliuddin
and Yang Berhormat Amran bin Haji Maidin.
At the meeting, the LegCo members shared
the progress of the implementation status of the resolutions approved
during the AIPA General Assembly last year, including developments and
initiatives implemented in areas of politics, economy, social, women and
youth development.
The discussion also focused on ‘Promotion
in Innovation, Transfer, Application and Development of Science and
Technology for Sustainable Growth and Development.’
Several implementation initiatives were
shared including the establishment of the Council for Research and
Advancement of Technology and Science (CREATES), Brunei Innovation Lab,
several research institutes at the university level and the adoption of
technology in economic development efforts in the Sultanate.
The meeting ended with the signing of the report agreed and approved by AIPA members.
