07.10.23 Department of State Councils celebrates the Maulidur Rasul

Bandar Seri Begawan, Saturday, October 7, 2023 - The celebration of Maulidur Rasul SAW is one of the religious events celebrated every year at the level of the ministries and departments of Brunei Darussalam. This celebration is not just to commemorate the anniversary of the birth of the Prophet SAW, but also one of ways​ to encourage the community to emulate the life, struggle and sunnah of the Prophet SAW. This year the Department of Councils of State​ has highlighted the theme of the talk in conjunction with the celebration which is significant and coincides with the current situation which is "The Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, the Guide to Life". The Prophet's Sunnah is a good lesson and example for Muslims including the non-Muslim community in this country. The lecture session was delivered by Ustaz Awang Haji Mohammad Azmi bin Haji Omar, Director of the Waljama'ah Sunnah Understanding Study Center, Seri Begawan College of Religious Education.

This annual event is organized by the Welfare and Sports Comittee of the Department of Councils of State and was attended by all officers and staff of the department. Present as the guest of honor at the ceremony was His Excellency Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, Speaker of the Legislative Council. Also present at the ceremony were Honourable Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Judin bin Haji Asar, Secretary of the Cabinet Ministers' Council & Clerk of Councils; and Honorable Members of the Legislative Council.

Through this organization it is hoped to achieve the unification of spirit, feelings of love and affection for the great leader of the Prophet SAW who always loves and misses his umat. It is human nature that commemorating someone's date of birth as a sign of love.
