Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul
Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib yesterday received a courtesy
visit from Indonesia Regional Representatives Council’s Ethic Council
Vice Chairman Dr Made Mangku Pastika and nine Members of Parliament
(MPs) at the LegCo building.
The two parties discussed development and
progress of Brunei and Indonesia as well as voiced appreciation for the
long-standing ties between the two countries.
They also highlighted the code of ethic and
code of conduct for MPs where the LegCo Speaker shared Standing Order –
a guide in handling meetings, process in approving laws and LegCo
members’ rights.
Dr Pastika shared that the Ethic Council
was established in 2004 to monitor the code of conduct and ethics of MPs
in carrying out their duties and responsibilities.
The courtesy visit continued with a
dialogue session between LegCo members and Indonesian MPs. They touched
on the code of conduct and ethics as well as exchange views and opinions
on the importance of MPs maintaining integrity by being honest, sincere
and noble in all affairs.
The discussion also covered economy and well-being of Brunei and Indonesia and their people.
Clerk to the Privy Council, Secretary to
the Cabinet Ministers’ Council and Clerk to the LegCo Dr Hajah Huraini
binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hurairah and
nine LegCo members were also present.
