Legislative Council (LegCo) Speaker Yang
Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul
Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib received a courtesy visit from
member of the House of Councillors in the National Diet of Japan and
Chief Representative of Japan’s Komeito Party, Natsuo Yamaguchi on
Thursday.
During the meeting, the LegCo Speaker
iterated the friendship and diplomatic ties established since 1984 that
has help strengthened various fields between both countries including
trade, investment, energy and cooperation.
Both sides also discussed the legal system
and function of each House and hoped to further strengthen cooperation
and relations between the two Houses through visits and capacity
building.
Accompanying Yamaguchi was member of the
House of Councillors in the National Diet of Japan and Chair of Women’s
Committee of the Komeito, Toshiko Takeya with member of the House of
Councillors in the National Diet of Japan and Vice Director of the Local
Assembly Bureau of the Komeito, Yasuhiro Nakagawa as well as Ambassador
of Japan to Brunei Darussalam, Maeda Toru.
Clerk to the Privy Council, Secretary to
the Cabinet Ministers’ Council and Clerk to the LegCo, Dr Hajah Huraini
binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Haji Hurairah with LegCo
members Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia
Haji Awang Suyoi bin Haji Osman, Yang Berhormat Hajah Safiah binti
Sheikh Haji Abdul Salam and Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Isa bin
Pengiran Haji Aliuddin were also present.
