09.08.24 LegCo members join regional meeting in Laos

​​​Members of the Legislative Council Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Suyoi bin Haji Osman and Yang Berhormat Hajah Safiah binti Sheikh Haji Abdul Salam represented Brunei Darussalam in the 7th Meeting of AIPA Advisory Council on Dangerous Drugs (AIPACODD) held in Laos recently.

They shared the national report on the drug situation in Brunei as well as the efforts in addressing the issue of misuse of drugs.

The annual meeting was held to discuss and exchange views among ASEAN member countries’ parliamentarians and associations as well as related bodies on the joint action in combating the threat of drugs including implementation of law, policy and programme to eradicate drugs to achieve ‘Drug Free ASEAN’.

The meeting endorsed a draft resolution titled ‘Strengthening the Role of Parliaments in Addressing Drug Matters for the Realisation of a Drug Free ASEAN’ to be presented during the 45th AIPA General Assembly in October.
