  • "The Department of Councils of State is one of the department under the Prime Minister's Office. Its main function is to organize and facilitate the Privy Council, Cabinet Ministers' Council and  Legislative Council by preparing working papers, recording discussions, preparing reports, disseminating information to the Members of the Councils and storing information and documents in a safe place.

    Functions of the Department of Councils of State

    Head by Clerk of the Legislative Councils 
    62 officers and staffs (Established posts) - Some staffs are seconded to the Cabinet Unit

The Council's Bodies were established under the Constitution of Brunei in 1959 and are responsible in advising His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in three government pillars namely Executive, Judiciary and Legislation; even with separate authority, the functions are still interrelated with each other according to the state philosophy, Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB)."
