The Mace is a symbol of authority to the Speaker of the Legislative Council during the meetings. It is a sterling silver-crafted scepter with the symbol of Brunei traditional Air Muleh, Bunga Paku-Paku, Pucuk Daun Nenas, Daun Setampik, Tampok Manggis, Buah Butun, Daun Selembar, Rawa-Rawa and Brunei National Emblem (Panji-Panji) following the concept of Malay Islamic Monarchy and inspired by the late Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam II, the 28th Sultan of Brunei. The Mace is 1.8 meter long and weighs 12 kilograms. During the Opening Ceremony, the Mace will be carried over the shoulder by the Sergeant-at-arms and led to the Assembly Hall, followed by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam accompanied by the Speaker of the Legislative Council and Clerk to the Legislative Council. In each meeting session, the Mace will be placed in a special holder facing the Clerk to the Legislative Council's. After the meeting is adjourned, the Mace will be carried out of the meeting hall, accompanied by the Speaker of the Legislative Council and Clerk to the Legislative Council.
