​Tuesday, September 26, 2023, Bandar Seri Begawan - The Legislative Council received a working visit from a delegation from the House of Representatives of Aceh (DPRA), Republic of Indonesia today. The visit was held at the Bangunan Dewan Majlis, Jalan Dewan Majlis.
The delegation of the House of Representatives of Aceh​ was led by the Honorable Ir. H. Azhar Abdurrahman, Secretary of Committee III of the House of Representatives of Aceh (Secretary of the Committee III of the House of Representatives of Aceh, Republic of Indonesia); along with four delegates. The delegation was welcomed by Honourable Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Judin bin Haji Asar, Secretary of the Cabinet Ministers' Council & Clerk of Councils. Also present were several members of the Legislative Council of Brunei Darussalam.
One of the main purposes of the visit to the Legislative Council is to observe and learn the best practices between the two sides. A discussion session was also held to provide an opportunity for both parties to share perspectives and exchange opinions and information that have focused on the progress of halal tourism development and management, reflecting a mutual commitment in harnessing the rapidly growing economic and cultural potential of the sector. This also includes sharing information about Islamic banking and finance.
Among other things, the discussion highlighted the legal procedures discussed and approved at the level of the Legislative Council of Brunei Darussalam and the House of Representative of Aceh.
The meeting of these two parties has symbolized the bridge between the two parties, where the unique culture of both countries strongly apply the teachings of Islam, showcasing opportunities for cooperation in the field of Islamic tourism that can be improved and concerted efforts for mutual growth and further give a positive impact to the region and global.
This working visit has further strengthened the friendship between the two parliamentary parties.
