Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji
Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib yesterday received a
courtesy visit from Singaporean High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam
Laurence Bay Siow Hon where they discussed the opportunity to expand
cooperation, especially in the field of law.
The meeting also saw the discussion on
issues of mutual interest and concern, including bilateral relations and
the strong friendship between the two countries. On the legal system,
the two sides discussed similarities between Brunei and Singapore’s
legislative councils, in terms of procedures and practices based on the
previous system of government, which is both unique and still widely
practised.
The envoy also congratulated the LegCo
Speaker on the success of the 20th LegCo session for bringing forth more
issues relevant and of interest to the people of Brunei.
The two also touched on other matters, such
as currency exchange between the two countries, and education and its
importance in helping a country prosper.
Clerk to the Privy Council, Secretary to
the Cabinet Ministers’ Council and Clerk to the LegCo Dr Hajah Huraini
binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hurairah was
also present during the meeting
