24.06.22 Meeting addresses challenges towards drug-free ASEAN

The Department of Councils of State attended the 5th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Advisory Council on Dangerous Drugs (AIPACODD) virtually at the Legislative Council building yesterday.

Hosted by the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the meeting was attended by delegates from 10 AIPA member countries. Representing the Sultanate as an observer was Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers’ Council and Clerk to Legislative Council Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Jaya Dato Paduka Haji Judin bin Haji Asar.

Also present was incoming AIPA Secretary-General Siti Rozaimeriyanty binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Abdul Rahman.

AIPACODD played a vital role in combatting dangerous drugs through AIPA Parliamentary countries that acted to coordinate for information exchange, policy and law enforcement in the ASEAN region.

The 5th AIPACODD also discussed ways to address challenges together for a drug-free ASEAN with the main goal to utilise an innovative mechanism and effective tools in realising the ASEAN vision.

The AIPACODD meeting unanimously agreed on the 5th AIPACODD Meeting Official Report and will be discussed to be approved during the 43rd ASEAN General Assembly AIPA in Cambodia this November.
