Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD)
reaffirmed its commitment to fostering inclusive communities and
promoting social well-being by supporting the newly-launched ‘Projek Memperkasa Ibu Tunggal’.
The initiative, launched under the
Executive Development Programme for Senior Government Officers (EDPSGO),
Cohort 31, Year 2024, aims to provide employment opportunities for
single mothers, enabling them to achieve financial independence and
improve their quality of life.
BIBD Head of Government Relations and
Special Projects Haji Mohammad Yusri bin Haji Wahsalfelah, noted that
supporting this project aligns with BIBD Sustainability Framework, which
emphasises fostering a sustainable and inclusive society.
He said, by empowering single mothers, BIBD
contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
related to gender equality, reduced inequalities, and decent work and
economic growth.
The initiative also complements Brunei
Vision 2035 by promoting inclusivity and empowering vulnerable segments
of society. By providing flexible working arrangements with various
companies, it empowers single mothers to balance their personal and
professional commitments.
As a socially responsible financial
institution, BIBD is committed to supporting initiatives that promote
financial inclusion and empower vulnerable communities. This aligns with
the SDGs and BIBD’s foundational belief in Maqasid Syariah. The
programme signifies BIBD’s commitment to nation-building, not just as a
financial institution but also as a responsible corporate citizen.
